Sweet Sixteen

While we were all together as a family we got to celebrate Allie's sweet sixteen. Wow! I can't believe it. She was only two months old at our wedding! She slept the entire time in her carrier. She was as adorable then as she is now! This family had many, many, many grandsons before it finally got a granddaughter...the beautiful Allie...and then two more...for a total of only three. I am so grateful that they are all came three in a row. Here is a picture of all the girls in the family now. I think they are starting to outnumber the boys again!

Allie opened presents.

Each of us wrote our wishes for Allie's life on a balloon...this one is from her Dad (by proxy).

Then we sent the baloons off into the Colorado sky.

Everyone had a wish for Allie.

Allie even had a wonderful and powerful wish for her life.

Aunt Pat and Allie with the lilacs in Allie's favorite color---purple.

We also had a talent show and spent some time as a family. This is Vienna.

All the grandkids sang a song that Aunt Pat originally wrote and Grandma embellished. It is a silly song about Venice, Utah.

Tyler read us some of his silly poetry. Very fun!

Hannah played the piano for us!

"Shake Your Booty" Vienna!

Joshua hugged his favorite cousin Shawn. He hugged him a lot. Joshua is seperated from his boy cousins by a lot of years and only has sisters...when he gets around the boys his maleness really kicks in and he spends a lot of time physically assaulting them...out of love of course.

Evan read us a poem that he wrote to Jeanne.

It's A Mad Mad Science Party

It's A Mad Mad Science Party

Joshua’s Birthday was this week and we have been partying all week! We had his party last Wednesday. It was a “Mad Science” party. The boys did lots of science experiments and learned about cool things like air pressure and the different kinds of styrofoam.

The great people at Mad Science brought all the fun. They started by doing a magic trick and then talking about the difference between magic and science. The boys then were able to participate in the science experiments. They were able to get a hardboiled to go into a jar that had an opening that was “too small” by using science to suck the egg inside the jar. They also were able to see the difference between styrofoam and special packing peanuts that are biodegradable….and even edible….so we learned! Yum! Also, the kids got to experiment with water-absorbing pellets. This was very fun until Professor Z explained to the kids where they might find these amazing pellets…in diapers…ewww! Of course, as any great science professor would do, Professor Z waited to tell the boys this until they had all played with the water-absorbed pellets. It was all fun until we bring up the gross stuff…then it was great!

We ended the birthday party with a rocket launch! Wow! It went higher than I thought it would go and it was such a great treat for the neighbor’s dog as it landed accidently in their yard instead of ours. By the time we called the neighbor there wasn’t much left of the rocket!

Fathers and Sons Outing!

This past weekend was also the Fathers and Sons outing in our ward. Joshua had a great time and the Bishop said on Sunday that he considered it a success because no one fell in the fire! After watching some of the video I am a little surprised that it was a success. Joshua of course was in heaven because there was so many guys his age to hang out with! Hal said it was one of the best-attended Fathers and Sons he remembers in our ward. Josh is just the perfect age!

Talent Show!

Today, we attended the school talent show. Joshua was selected to play in the talent show. Here is a video of his violin performance. He did very well and did not struggle with stage fright at all. This is the biggest crowd he has ever played for. He picked his favorite song to play so it would be fun and not to hard to remember. I was really proud of him. He did great.

Of course we came home to more cake and ice cream…homework and bed. It was a great celebratory week. Eight is Great.

As a final celebratory note, at the beginning of the week Joshua FINALLY lost a front tooth, for a grand total of three teeth lost. He didn't lose the first one until he was seven.
